FAQ
Q: How does the sensor technology work on the Helix Sense? A: The Helix Sense features intelligent ambient light and motion sensors that automatically control the light. The ambient light sensor detects when it gets dark (such as entering a tunnel, dusk, or night riding) and turns the light on automatically. The motion sensor detects when you're riding and can activate the light, then turn it off when you're stationary for a period of time. This ensures you're always visible when needed without having to manually switch the light on and off, providing peace of mind and convenience.
Q: Is 300 lumens too bright for a rear light? A: No, 300 lumens is not too bright—it's designed for maximum visibility and safety. This ultra-high output is particularly valuable for daytime riding when ambient light makes it harder for drivers to see cyclists, as well as for riding in heavy traffic, poor weather, fog, or on fast roads where early detection is critical. You can typically select lower-output modes when full power isn't needed, balancing visibility with battery life. The brightness ensures you're seen from extreme distances, significantly improving safety.
Q: How long does the battery last and how do I charge it? A: Battery runtime depends on the mode selected—the maximum 300 lumen steady mode will drain the battery faster than lower-power flash modes. Typical runtimes range from 1-2 hours on maximum steady output to 8-12 hours on eco flash modes (check the specifications for exact times). The light charges via USB cable (usually included), and you can plug it into any USB port on a computer, wall adapter, or power bank. A full charge typically takes 2-4 hours, and many models include a battery indicator to show remaining charge.
Q: What's the difference between the 300lm, 150lm, and 100lm Helix models? A: The main differences are output power and sensor features. The Helix Sense 300lm offers the highest brightness for maximum visibility, the Helix Sense 150lm provides excellent visibility with the same automatic sensor technology, and the Helix Lite 100lm is manually operated without sensors. Higher lumen models provide better daytime visibility and longer detection distances but may have shorter battery life on maximum settings. All models are weather-resistant and USB rechargeable, so choose based on your visibility needs and preference for automatic vs manual operation.
Q: Is the light waterproof and can I use it in the rain? A: Yes, the Moon Helix Sense is designed to be weather-resistant and can withstand rain, road spray, and wet conditions. Most bike lights are rated to IPX4 or higher, meaning they're protected against water splashing from any direction. You can confidently use it for commuting and riding in all weather conditions including heavy rain, snow, and wet roads. However, avoid submerging the light in water or using a high-pressure washer directly on it to maintain the seal integrity.
