FAQ

Q: Will this chain work with my 7 or 8-speed drivetrain? A: Yes! The PC870 is compatible with both 7-speed and 8-speed drivetrains from SRAM and Shimano, making it a versatile choice for city bikes, hybrids, touring bikes, and mountain bikes with 7 or 8-speed systems.

Q: What is PowerChain II technology? A: PowerChain II is SRAM's advanced chain design that improves front shifting and load shifting (shifting under power) without compromising rear shifting precision. This means smoother, more reliable gear changes whether you're on city bike paths or country trails.

Q: What is the Step2 riveting process? A: Step2 is SRAM's enhanced riveting process that increases the strength of the chain pins (Push Pin Power). This results in a stronger, more durable chain with no weak links, delivering longer life and more reliable performance under demanding conditions.

Q: How does the PowerLink connector work? A: PowerLink is SRAM's tool-free connecting link. Simply insert the PowerLink, press the ends together, and it locks securely - no tools needed. This makes chain installation and removal much easier for cleaning and maintenance, and it can be reused multiple times.

Q: How many links do I need for my bike? A: The chain comes with 114 links, which is standard for most 7 and 8-speed bike setups. You'll likely need to remove some links to fit your specific frame. The exact number depends on your frame size, chainstay length, and chainring/sprocket sizes.
